The Forest of the Silver Deer

Anno Domini 511

The next year, King Arthur did command his incognito emissaries to cross hostile borders to secure alliances against the returning northern hosts. Through the deep and enchanted boughs of the Forest of Arden, the knights did journey until they encountered a marvel: the great wolf-man Bleiddwn, son of the old gods, who paced the paths and tested the honesty of their hearts. Finding truth in them, he did bestow a hand-carved wooden whistle of great power.

Thence they rode unto northwestern Logres, where the huge and terrible Battle of Bedegraine was joined. For two days the fields ran red, but when the banners of Cameliard burst from the woods, the northern lines collapsed, and Arthur's crown was made secure.
